DENTIGEROUS CYST + diagnosis JAW CYSTS + diagnosis ODONTOGENIC CYSTS + diagnosis TOOTH, IMPACTED + diagnosis |
| Abstract: |
Odontogenic cysts are commonly encountered in routine dental practice and can be developmental or inflammatory in origin. These are often destructive to both teeth and jaws. In many instances, different types of cysts exhibit similar findings clinically, radiographically & histopathologically. In such cases, accurate diagnosis depends on co-relation of all these findings. A dentigerous cyst is one that encloses the crown of an unerupted tooth by expansion of its follicle and is attached to the neck of the tooth and it is usually associated with any of the unerupted tooth. It is also been reported that progressing inflammation from the root apex of the deciduous tooth brings about the development of the dentigerous cyst around the unerupted permanent tooth. One such rare case of inflammatory dentigerous cyst (IDC) in left mandibular canine region in a 12 year old boy is presented in this article, which was treated by enucleation of the cyst along with the tooth. |

GINGIVAL NEOPLASMS INFANT, NEWBORN |
| Abstract: |
A newborn infant with congenital epulis can be the most difficult sight for both parents as well as health care professionals involved in neonatal care. These lesions of the infant can be of varying sizes, posing a risk of airway obstruction or interfering with feeding. Dentists should have the knowledge about these lesions as they may necessitate consultation with other practitioners such as pediatricians, anesthetist, and neonatologist and provide information to parents regarding the treatment of these lesions. Furthermore, congenital epulis is an important lesion in the differential diagnosis of more aggressive lesions seen in early life. English literature review showed only three cases of congenital fibrous epulis. In this present report, a four month old male infant is described with an unusual swelling over mandibular anterior alveolar region since birth and histologically the lesion showed features of congenital fibrous epulis. |

| Abstract: |
Taurodontism is a morphologic variation in which the body of the ooth is enlarged and the roots are reduced in size. Taurodont teeth have large pulp chambers and apically positioned furcation area along with absence of cervical constriction at the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ). This mainly affects permanent dentition and the involved teeth are posteriors, mostly molars. One or several teeth in the same quadrant are affected. Clinically, taurodonts appear as normal teeth and are detected by routine radiographic examination during dental treatments. Interestingly, in the current case report all molars of both arches were hypertaurodonts which is a very rare finding. Hence this case is presented with the various surgical and endodontic treatment options. |

ODONTOGENIC CYSTS CARCINOMA, MUCOEPIDERMOID |
| Abstract: |
