The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial effect of root-end filling materials, MTA and amalgam, by agar diffusion test. Materials and methods: Blood agar plates were inoculated with bacteria Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus mitis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis each, and a polymicrobial suspension consisting of all the tested bacteria. Material samples were divided among the inoculated plates, and after 48 hours of incubation, the diameters of the inhibition zone (IZ) were recorded. Results: The strongest antibacterial effect of MTA was against Streptococcus mutans (IZ = 7.6 mm, sd 1.0), followed by Streptococcus mitis and Lactobacillus acidophilus (IZ = 7.3 mm, sd 0.5). The inhibition zone (IZ) for Enterococcus faecalis was 5.6 mm (sd 0.7), and for the polymicrobial suspension 5.3 mm (sd 1.0). Staphylococcus aureus was the only bacteria MTA did not show any antibacterial effect against. Amalgam showed no antibacterial effect against any of the bacteria tested. Conclusion: MTA showed antibacterial effect against 4 of 5 tested bacteria and the polymicrobial suspension, while amalgam did not inhibit the growth of any of the bacteria tested. |

| Abstract: |

| Abstract: |
Professor Zoran Azinović, DMD, PhD, Associate Professor of Endodontics, restorative dentistry and cariesology, Senior scientific consultant at the University of Zagreb School of Dental medicine, specialist in dental and oral pathology and periodontology, dentist-in-Chief at the Zagreb Clinical hospital center Dental clinic was born in Konjic in Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 25th, 1944. That was along sentence, containing a lot of information – the most important of which might be the beginning of a life. A life that matured and left a mark. Then its light extinguished, like all the others before it, andall those that shall follow. Yes, he left us too soon. Mr. Zoran Azinović was a special man, always willing to help, teacher and mentor to many students at the University Dental School here in Zagreb. Aftergraduating in 1968 he began his academic, scientific and teaching career at the same instution in 1970, at the Dental pathology department. He qualified as a specialist in 1977, and defended his Master’s degree thesis in Dental sciences in 1981. His researched was focused on the efficacity of enamel etching and was one of the pioneers of this technique in this country. He also encouraged many students to concentrate on that area in their work, and was one of the first in the country to conduct SEM research on changes in the hard tissue of the tooth. At the time, it was necessary to invest great effort and knowledge into such work. Professor Zoran Azinović, DMD, PhD improved our profession. He was named doctor-in-Chief at the CHC Dental clinic ten years after qualifying as a specialist in 1977, and gave his best years to his patients there, and they valued his time. His patients loved him and appreciated him, and always requested him, personally. They would quietly knock at the door and tell the nurse: “I’m with Professor Azinović. Please tell him I’m here”. Furthering his scientific work, he earned a PhD in the same area in 1989, this time studying the effect of Fluoride on enamel. The following year he became Adjunct Professor. He became an Associate professor in 1999, and maintained that position until his untimely death in 2008. |

| Abstract: |
Objectives: To compare the leakage of two root canal sealers, Apexit Plus and GuttaFlow. Materials and Methods: For the purpose of the research, 26 single-rooted extracted permanent teeth were used. Root canals of all the samples were prepared using ProTaper rotary fi les. Teeth prepared and instrumented were divided into two groups of 10 teeth. The fi rst group was obturated using the technique of cold lateral condensation, with the use of gutta-percha points and Apexit Plus sealer. The second group was obturated with the GuttaFlow. Six samples were used as a control group. The leakage of root canal fi lling on samples was examined by the use of fl uid-transport model, 24h after the obturation and thermocycling. Results and Conclusion: Statistically analyzed results of the research have shown that GuttaFlow obturated signifi cantly better than Apexit Plus 24h after the obturation procedure and after the thermocycling (both comparisons: Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA, p<0,0002). In samples obturated with Apexit Plus root canal sealer, there was a statistically signifi cant difference in leakage 24h after the fi lling and after the thermocycling (p=0.011), which was insignifi cant for GuttaFlow (Friedman ANOVA, p=0.739). Under the conditions of this study, GuttaFlow provided a better seal than Apexit Plus. |

| Abstract: |
Objective of work: To asses the leakage of three different root canal filling techniques: cold lateral condensation, Touch’n Heat and Thermafil technique by fluid transport model. The root canals of 70 single rooted teeth were prepared using step-back technique and obturated with tested techniques and Diaket sealer. The leakage was measured by the movement of an air bubble in a capillary glass tube connected to the experimental root. Thermafil technique showed statistically significantly less leakage (0,46 µL ±0,13) than Touch’n Heat (0,77 µL ±0,50) and cold lateral condensation technique (0,71 µL ±0,19). Under the conditions of this study, specimens obturated with Thermafil techniques showed the least leakage. |

| Abstract: |
The purpose of this study was to evaluate microleakage of two different adhesive systems between resin composite restorations and cavity walls. The experiment was conducted on 12 intact human third molars, extracted for orthodontic reasons, sectioned at the cemento-enamel junction to provide crown segments. The cavities were prepared in the occlusal surfaces. The samples were divided into two groups, six samples in each. Restorations were made with the resin composite “Tetric Ceram” (Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein) and two different self-etch adhesive systems: in one group two-step self-etch AdheSE (Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein), and in the other single-step self-etch Xeno III (DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany). Microleakage was measured by two different methods, fl uid transport model and dye penetration. The results using fl uid transport model showed no statistically signifi cant difference between two groups of samples (p=0,7488). Marginal leakage measured using dye penetration technique method showed statistically signifi cant higher degree of marginal leakage (p=0,002) in the group where Xeno III was used. |

| Abstract: |
The effect of five intracanal dressings, calcium hydroxide, chlorhexidine gluconate (1% gel and 0.2% solution), camphorated parachlorphenole and 1% metronidazole was tested in vitro in four media. The canals of 40 test teeth were artificially infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. Significant differences were observed between five intracanal dressings regarding the number of P. aeruginosa after 3 and 7 days (p < 0.05) and C. albicans after 3 days (p < 0.05). Specimens with calcium hydroxide and camphorated parachlorphenole have significant antibacterial efficacy. Camphorated parachlorphenole has significantly reduced the number of all tested microorganisms P. aeruginosa and C. albicans after 3 and 7 days in comparison with other materials (p < 0.05). Calcium hydroxide has shown similar effect on P. aeruginosa as camphorated parachlorphenole regarding the efficacy after 3 days (p < 0.05). Chlorhexidine gel has shown the weakest efficacy on P. aeruginosa after 3 days, compared to all tested materials, but its antibacterial efficacy after 7 days was statistically greater compared to other materials (p < 0.05), except for camphorated parachlorphenole. All tested materials had good antimycotic efficacy against C. albicans except metronidazole that, as was expected, had no efficacy against yeast (p < 0.05). We can conclude that the antibacterial efficacy of chlorhexidine gel is enhanced with time, while camphorated parachlorphenole and calcium hydroxide have fastest and strongest antimicrobial efficacy. |

| Abstract: |
Three-rooted maxillary first premolars do not occur usually, but their possibility always has to be considered. The buccal orifices of the root canals are not clearly visible. In spite of a good knowledge of tooth anatomy, clinical experience, and X-rays, the third canal is often overlooked. The incidence of maxillary first premolars with three roots, three canals and three foramina is about 4-6%. In this article 5 clinical endodontic cases of first maxillary premolars with three canals are presented. The first case presents endodontic treatment of the first right maxillary premolar for a prosthetic reason. All three canals were recognized and treated as documented by radiographs. The remaining cases were retreatment of the first maxillary premolars where third canals had remained unrecognized during previous endodontic procedures, resulting in failure of treatment. Retreatments were performed and results documented by radiographs. |

| Abstract: |
The purpose of the study was to assess the patient’s attitude towards the use of a rubber dam and to determine whether any clinical factors influence it. After receiving endodontic treatment under a rubber dam, patients were asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire. They were divided into 2 groups: Group 1 - operators were final-year dental students at the School of Dental Medicine University of Zagreb and Group 2 - operators were (dentists) dental specialists and resident dentists at the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics, School of Dental Medicine University of Zagreb. The data were statistically analysed by descriptive statistics and Pearson chi square and variance analysis. The majority of the patients (69.1%) in both groups would prefer rubber dam use at their next appointment and consider it pleasant and comfortable to wear (58.2%). Dentists did not explain the reason for the use of the rubber dam to 40.0% of the patients, but when they did, all but two patients understood the explanation. The time required for placing the rubber dam without the assistant’s help was 3 minutes on average and the duration of the endodontic treatment under rubber dam was 69 minutes on average. When compared to the dental specialists students required more time to place the rubber dam and to perform endodontic treatment under it. From this study it can be concluded that patients do not have a negative attitude towards the use of a rubber dam, that the placement of a rubber dam does not take long and that operator’s experience influences the patient’s attitude. |

The aim of the investigation was to evaluate the amount of remaining gutta-percha and cement on dentine walls of the root canal after retreatment with three different gutta-percha solvents: eucalyptus oil, halothane and orange oil. Seventy one-rooted teeth were instrumented by “step-back” technique and filled with gutta-percha and Diaket cement using a cold lateral condensation technique. After 180 days storing in saline solution the samples were divided into three groups. Retreatment was done by hand instruments with the addition of solvent. The procedure was considered finished when there were not obvious traces of guttapercha and cement on the instrument or paper point. The teeth were split and photographed by camera mounted on a stereomicroscope. The area of remaining gutta-percha and cement was calculated by computer program “ISSA”. The greatest amount of remaining root canal filling was found after retreatment with orange oil (3.85 ±3.15 mm2), followed by halothane (3.72 ±2.52 mm2), and the best result was achieved with eucalyptus oil (2.82 ±1.31 mm2), but without statistical significance. |

| Abstract: |
The aim of this study was to examine mutagenic activity of four commercially available gutta-percha solvents by means of the Salmonella/ microsome assay. The examined solvents were: chloroform, orange oil, eucalyptus oil and halothane in amounts of 10 μl, 30 μl, 50 μl, 100 μl and 200 μl. Standard plate incorporation Ames test was preformed by using two tester strains of Salmonella typhimurium, TA 98 and TA 100, with metabolic activation of S9. The results showed toxicity of eucalyptus oil in all aliquots, orange oil in aliquots of 50 μl and above and chloroform in aliquots of 100 μl and 200 μl, but all four substances responded negative to the Ames test. These results indicate that the tested solvents do not possess mutagenic activity toward the Salmonella strains used. |

Pain is known to be a frequent reason for the patient’s arrival to the dental clinic. The aim of this study was to determine how often patients come to the dental clinic because of toothache or pain in the oral cavity; how high the percentage of acute or chronic pain, and the distribution of the aforementioned pains according to the sex of the patients.Examination of the frequency of pain in dental patients was carried out on a sample of 2,735 subjects during a period of approximately one year. Pain was determined in 16.49% of patients and the remaining 83.51% of patients were without pain. There were slightly more female patients (54%) than male (46%), although correlation between pain and sex of the patients was not statistically significant. The higher number of female patients was the result of the greater number of female patients admitted. With regard to the duration of pain, acute pain was significantly more frequent (around 84%) than chronic pain (around 16%). Within the structure of acute and chronic pain odontalgia was most frequent in 89% of all the acute pains and in 90% of all chronic pains, which was significantly more than all other types of pain. The frequency of acute odontalgia, with respect to the total number of admitted patients, amounted to 12.36% of patients and chronic odontalgia 2.38% of patients. |

| Abstract: |
The aim of the study was to evaluate the sealing quality of mineral threeoxide aggregate (MTA), Super EBA and IRM cement in an ultrasonically prepared cavity using a dye penetrating technique. The experiment was carried out on 35 single rooted permanent teeth. Their roots were treated by a conventional “step back” technique and filled by a cool lateral condensation technique. After hardening in a physiological solution, root-ends were resectioned and a retrograde cavity 1.5 mm in diameter, 3 mm deep was prepared by an ultrasonic tip. MTA, Super EBA, IRM, filled ten samples and a control group of 5 samples were filled by amalgam. A dye was added to the samples, which were left in a testing rood. After reaching tooth transparency, results were noted by a stereomicroscope with the use of a calibrated scale on the ocular. Statistical results indicated that samples filled with MTA had least leakage in comparison to those filled with IRM and Super EBA cement. |

| Abstract: |
The aim of this paper is to emphasize the importance of following the proper rules for performing a procedure, such as making a postendodontic post and core system. A postendodontic system should provide retention and resistance of the restoration, resistance of the remaining tooth structure and good sealing of the root canal. Microleakage can occur in the root canal filling as well as in the post and core system. After preparation of the intraradicular post space remains apical root canal filling which is 3-5 mm in length, and is a questionable barrier to prevent microorganisms and their toxins from penetrating into the periradicular tissue. Therefore, one should use the proper techniques in aseptic conditions during post and core treatments. |

The study evaluates the effect of collagen bioresorbable membrane as a pulp capping material. Experiments were carried out on mongrel dogs. The dogs were anesthetized and teeth were isolated by rubber dum. In all animals, along the buccal side, class V cavities were prepared on two maxillary and mandibular incisors. The pulp chambers were exposed and bioresorbable collagen membrane Bio Gide was placed on the pulp wound in the first group of the teeth. In the second group the pulp wound was covered with a sterile Teflon disk and in the third group the cavities were closed by Ketac-Silver cementum only. The cavities in the first two groups of teeth were permanently closed by Ketac-Silver cementum. After six weeks the specimen teeth were extracted and prepared for histological examination. The histological findings of the specimens treated only with Ketac-Silver cementum showed complete necrosis of the pulp tissue. Two samples treated with Teflon disks showed complete necrosis of the pulp, while on six samples partial loss of morphologic structure could be seen. On the specimens treated with collagen bioresorbable membranes the pulp tissue preserved its vitality to a much greater extent. Particularly noticeable was a better blood supply in the pulp, with an increased number of blood vessels. The creation of a reparatory bridge was not noticed in any of the tested samples. |

The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of the electronic apex locator, Endometer ES-02 in measurement of root canal length in clinical practice. The Endometer ES-02 instrument uses impedance of high frequency electric current. The sample consisted of 631 teeth (328 single rooted, 70 bi-rooted and 250 tri-rooted teeth). After extirpation of the pulp by pulp extirpators, the root canal was rinsed with the 2.6% NaOCl solution and dried by paper points. The root canal length was measured using an Endometer ES-02 instrument. After the standard endodontic procedure, the root canals were obturated with Diaket and gutta-percha points, based on the measurement result obtained by Endometer ES-02. The teeth were then X-rayed and accuracy of the procedure was evaluated by measuring the distance between radiographic apex and endodontic filling with a digital caliper. The accuracy of the procedure was 96.4%. |

| Abstract: |
INTRODUCTION: The term 'noncarious cervical lesions’ (NCCL) stands to indicate the loss of hard tissue at the tooth cervix. This loss can be caused by different physical and/or chemical agents. One of the causes of NCCL can be occlusal stress, which lead to toothflexureand loss of enamel at the cervical area. In different types of occlusion there are numerous lateral eccentric movements that can cause NCCL. The purpose of this study was to determine differencesin the frequency of NCCLs between patients with different occlusal conception.METHODS AND RESULTS: The study involved 815 persons over the age of 10 years, chosen at random. The cervical third of the vestibular surface of the upper and lower teeth was clinically examined. NCCLs were measured with plus and minus. The type of occlusal conception was established by clinical examination and classified as canine guidance, group function and combinedocclusion. The results showed that the NCCLs were equally participatein both sexes, and in all three types of occlusion (Chi-square values were 1.96, df=2, p>0.05).CONCLUSION: The results of the study indicate that there is no statistically significant difference in the frequency of NCCLs between patients with different occlusal. |

| Abstract: |
The aim of this study was to determine the in vitro antimicrobial activity of calcium hydroxide root canal sealer (Apexit) in direct contact with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens and Staphylococcus aureus. The direct contact test (DCT) was performed. The sealer was mixed and placed on the side wall of microtiter plate wells and 10 μl of bacterial suspension (106 bacteria) was placed onto its surface. Bacteria were in direct contact with the sealer for 1 hour at 37°C. BHI broth (250 μl) was then added and the growth of each strain was measured after 1 hour, 6 hours, 20 hours and 24 hours. After 1 hour the number of E. coli and P. aeruginosa decreased to 7-9 x 10 3 and S. marcescens to 7 x 10 2 bacteria. The number of S. aureus was 1.4 x 10 5 bacteria. Six hour samples showed that the number of P. aeruginosa decreased to 10 1 and gram-positive S. aureus to 7.5 x 10 4. After 20 hours only S. aureus (10 1 bacteria) survived after prior contact with Apexit. The 24-hour samples showed complete bacterial growth inhibition of all the bacterial strains tested in DCT with Apexit. |

| Abstract: |
Chloroform was the most frequently used solvent for removing guttapercha from the root canal. However, dispute with regard to its safety prompted the use of new solvents. The aim of this study was to compare the time required for dissolving gutta-percha by eucalyptol, halothane and orange oil. Seventy single rooted teeth were sterilised, treated by conventional "step-back" technique and filled by cold lateral condensation technique, and stored in 0.9% NaCl solvent for 180 days. After which revision of the root filler was performed. The revision was considered complete when no signs of gutta-percha and the filler were visible on the metallic instruments and paper sticks. In view of the distribution of data on key variables, ANOVA, with "post hoc" tests was applied during the analysis of results. Statistically reliable difference was determined between the speed of dissolvability with eucalyptol and the speed with halothane and orange oil. |

| Abstract: |
The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial effect of Er:YAG laser in the root canal using bacteria of Enterococcus and Staphylococcus species. Eleven single-rooted teeth were instrumented, sterilized and ten of them inoculated with bacterial suspension of concentration 106 CFU/ml in brain heart broth. Nine samples were irradiated with Er:YAG laser (220 mJ/40 Hz/10 s) in two cycles with a pause of 15 s for cooling. One sample with bacterial suspension without irradiation was a positive control, and one sterile sample a negative control. After irradiation the samples were placed in vials with broth and the number of CFU/ml was determined by bacterial analysis after one and two weeks. Er:YAG laser did not completely sterilize any canal, but in three cases elimination of Staphylococcus aureus occurred. This indicates the possible better antibacterial effects of erbium laser in the root canal if appropriate energy delivery system could be applied. |

HISTORY OF DENTISTRY |
| Abstract: |
The object of the study was to investigate where and in what way iconography and homage to St. Appolonia, patron saint of the dental profession, can be found in the Franciscan province of St. Cyril and Methodius. The study included 30 monasteries and counties and data were collected by means of a questionnaire, electronic communication and the exhibition "Peace and Goodwill" in Zagreb. The material was analysed in tables and by photo-documentation. Nine altar statues and one altar painting of St. Appolonia are situated in 9 (30%) of the Franciscan churches investigated. The churches are mainly situated in north-west Croatia, which is a result of the socio-political and organisational influence of Central Europe in these areas. Iconographically the figures of St. Appolonia conform to the distinctive iconography of the Roman Catholic Church and include an element of local influence. The sculptures are made in wood, polychromed and gold plated. They range in height from 100 to 184 cm. A painting, oil on canvas, measures 254 x 142 cm. All the figures of St. Appolonia are on altars, indicating that the saint is very highly revered and homage to her is permanently firmly established in the spiritual tradition of the Franciscan Order. |

Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis species were used for the experiment. 0,5 McFarland bacterial inoculum was diluted using saline in proportions 1:10, 1:10 2, 1:10 3, 1:10 4, 1:10 5 and 1:10 6. 0.2 millilitre of solving agent was mixed with an equal quantity of bacterial suspension. Sixty specimens, 10 for each proportion, were prepared. Specimens were hermetically closed and left for 10 and 30 minutes. 0.1 millilitre of each specimen was planted to the blood agar and put in the thermostat at 37°C for 24 hours. The procedure was repeated twice. Halothane exhibited greatest antibacterial activity, destroying all concentrations of Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis. Eucalyptol showed activity towards Staphylococcus aureus, while orange oil did not show any antibacterial effect on the examined bacteria. |

| Abstract: |
The purpose of the study was to evaluate cytotoxicity of AH Plus, compared to AH26 in vitro on Chinese hamsters V79 fibroblasts. The materials were prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions. After the initial setting period, the materials were crumbled and dissolved in dimetil-sulfoxide solution. The extracts obtained were incubated at 37C during one hour, 24 hours and 7 days. After incubation period the samples were diluted with Eagle’s minimum essential medium to concentrations ranging from 1.67 μg/ml to 167 μg/ml. Each concentration was placed on a plate with 24 wells with 5x103 V79 cells per 1.2 ml of medium. The number of cells was counted by electronic counter and the percentage of viable cells was determined by a light microscope. Both materials, AH26 and AH Plus were found to be cytotoxic. In both materials cytotoxic effect was related to the concentration of endodontic sealer in the extract solution. The critical concentrations, above which the sealers totally destroy the cell line are between 5.57 μg/ml and 167 μg/ml for AH Plus and 16.57 μg/ml and 167 μg/ml for AH26. The setting time did not have a statistically significant effect an cytotoxicity. |

| Abstract: |
The aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial properties of three endodontic sealers (AH 26, Ketac-Endo and Apexit) using Direct Contact Test (DCT) and Agar Diffusion Test (ADT). DCT is based on measuring the effect of close contact between test bacteria and tested material, while ADT measures the areas of bacterial growth inhibition and consequently the incidence of microbial resistence of bacteria. The results of DCT showed that all tested materials, apart from Apexit, have antibacterial activity. The diameters of the bacterial growth inhibition zones in ADT demonstrated by Ketac-Endo (x=12.26 ± 1.76 mm), AH 26 (x=5.67 ± 0.66 mm) and Apexit (x=0.80 ± 0.29 mm). |

| Abstract: |
Calcium hydroxide preparations Ca(OH)2 are used as water solutions, putly, liner, cement or artificial material. The therapeutic effect of each medicaments depends on physical and chemical characteristic of additional components. The aim of the paper is to research the sensitivity of Streptococcus faecalis and Candida albicans to different water solution concentrations of calcium hydroxide. As solid plates, Bacto-Mitis-Salivarius agar was used for S. mutans, Torlak blood agar for S. faecalis and Sabourand agar "Torlak" for C. albicans. The holes were drilled in solid plates and were filled by 0.2 ml of water solutions of Ca(OH)2. Preparations, created as described were incubated aerobically at 37 degrees C in the period of 48 hrs. Results were read after 24 as well as after 48 hrs. The examined solutions of Ca(OH)2, revealed the highest antimicrobic effect after 24 hrs. The result remained unchanged even after 48 hrs. The inhibition of S. mutans growth on the solid plate occurred with the concentration of Ca(OH)2 solution from 271.18 x 10(-2) mol/dm3 and pH 12.76. The growth of S. faecalis at the solid plate was inhibited with the concentration of 3335.21 x 10(-3) mol/dm3 and pH 12.82. The inhibition of C. albicans growth on solid plate occurred with the concentration of Ca(OH)2 solution from 1023.20 x 10(-3) mol/dm3 and pH 12.84. The difference in the sensitivity of the examined microorganisms at the same concentrations of Ca(OH)2 solution was observed. |

| Abstract: |
Laser effect on enamel is manifested as consequence of temperature changes. Enamel melts, vaporises and a crater, and fissures are formed. Retention surface for anchoring of composite resin was obtained in intact approximal surfaces of premolars with CO2 laser (0.5, 1 and 3 W, sport size 1 and 1.5 mm, 0.2 and 0.5 s). The study results reveal composite and lased enamel interfaces are stronger then composite and inlased enamel (p less than 0.01) but weaker than composite and acid pretreated enamel interface (p less than 0.01). |

DENTAL ENAMEL + radiation effects TOOTH DEMINERALIZATION LASERS + therapeutic use |
| Abstract: |
Tooth enamel laser irradiated under certain conditions previously has been shown to have reduced subsurface demineralizations rate. The teeth were cut vertically in half with a thin diamond disc. One half of each tooth served as a control and the other half was irradiated using the CO2 laser. Laser energy was applied at incisive labial surface (15 W, 0.5 s, spot size 3.5 mm). After irradiation the specimens were coated with wax leaving only the windows 3 x 3 mm on the labial surfaces. After experimental demineralisation with 0.2 M sodium acetate and 0.1 M lactic acid solution for 10 days, dissolved calcium and phosphorus were analyzed in the demineralizating solutions using atomic absorption spectrophotometry and colorimetric method (method described by Lowey), respectively. Ca and P concentrations in demineralizing solutions per unit surface area were lower then the controls. |
