| Abstract: |
Polymerisation characteristics of conventional units for curing composite resins are insufficient considering handling feasibilities particularly in the premolar and molar region. There is also hazardous ocular effect of near ultra-violet part of visible spectra. Sodium high pressure lamp technology has been applied to develop a new high pressure zinc lamp, which is for the first time used for curing composite materials. The results of polymerisation measurements show that future improvements over the usual halogen light sources are possible. Zinc lamp was also compared with the high pressure sodium lamp filled with mercury or cadmium. |

| Abstract: |
The aim of the investigation is to evaluate the dependence of the most frequent postextraction complications (pain, hemorrhage, hematoma, swelling and dry socket) in relation to the choice of anesthesia. The total of 447 teeth was extracted in 319 male and female persons between 11 and 80 years of age. The most important conclusion of the investigations is that vasoconstrictor in local anesthetic solutions does not influence the incidence of postextraction complications. Clot disturbance, higher incidence of dry socket and unpredicted time of pain appearance were found in the local anesthetic group with lower concentration of vasoconstrictor. Statistically significant difference between local and general anesthesia does not exist in relation to blood clot disturbances, although a great number of clot fails is evident in local anesthetic group. The pain intensity is lower when teeth extraction were performed under general anesthesia. |

PULPOTOMY TOOTH FRACTURES + therapy DENTAL PULP CAVITY + anatomy & histology |
| Abstract: |
Nowadays the vital pulpotomy is applied as the most biological therapy method in the therapy of complicated fractures of young permanent teeth. When the process of apexogenesis and apexification is completed, the extirpation of the radicular pulp is recommended, as there are doubts that degenerative and pathological changes might have occurred in the very pulp. The aim of this research was to histologically analyse the pulp of such teeth. To this purpose thirteen samples of human pulp, which were extirpated from clinically healthy teeth, were analysed; these teeth were successfully treated by means of vital amputation. The results showed that within these pulps there were no changes such as inflamed cells, calcification, changes in the number of cells and in the amount of collagen fibres, to a much greater extent than what would be found in intact teeth or in teeth treated conservatively. From the above we can draw conclusions, as well as use it as guidance in practical work: in cases of successful therapy of fractured young permanent teeth the vital extirpation of the pulp as preventive measure is not justified. Such a tooth has to be watched clinically and radiographically throughout a longer period of time. |

| Abstract: |
The sample consisted of 102 individuals, of which 30 were with normal occlusion, and the rest was classified in 6 groups of orthodontic anomalies. They were of both sexes, mean age was 16.8. The purpose of this study was to analyse the number, intensity and location of occlusal contacts within a group and between the groups, also in relation to the type of the tooth and the examined segment of dental arch. Photoocclusion was used as the main method of analysis, and registration with articulating paper was the control method. The results gave no significant difference in relation to age and sex within the same types of anomaly. The greatest number of occlusal contacts, after that in the group with normal occlusion, was in the group with crowding (16.41), and the lowest number of contacts was in the patients with mandibular prognathism (8.13). Between the groups with different anomalies significant difference has been found in relation to the segment of dental arch, intensity and type of tooth: in molars it was 64-65 kg/mm2 decreasing gradually towards the incisors. |

| Abstract: |
A group of 301 children (146 males and 155 females) aged 3-6 years, from kindergartens in Zadar, on the island of Ugljan and in Zadar suburbs, Bibinje and Sukosan, were examined. The prevalence of orthodontic anomalies and caries in pre-school children with exclusively deciduous dentition was assessed. Results were recorded in WHO forms for oral health state and required treatment assessment, and then compared. The overall prevalence of orthodontic anomalies in the sample of pre-school children was 47.50%, most of them found in children from the city of Zadar (56.36%), followed by those from the island of Ugljan, and from Bibinje and Sukosan (47.86% and 33.78%, respectively). According to diagnosis, premature loss was the leading cause (13.28%), followed by open bite (12.62%), primary crowding (7.64%), cross bite (4.98%), trauma (2.65%), overbite (2.32%), diastema (1.99%), other anomalies (1.32%), and progeny complex (0.66%), with a higher incidence in boys than in girls (28.23% vs. 19.26%). The frequency of caries (KIO) in the total sample was 68.8%, caries index (KIZ) 22.4%, and mean caries index (KIP) 4.2%, with no substantial differences related to sex or place of residence. Intact deciduous dentition was observed in 78.25%, treated in 2.1% and untreated in 22.4% of the subjects. The percentage of intact teeth was higher in the maxilla (78.6% vs. 76.6%), whereas the percentage of treated teeth was higher in the mandible (2.8% vs. 1.32%). No interrelationship was found between the frequency of orthodontic anomalies and caries. Assessment of the treatment requirements revealed that 667 deciduous teeth needed treatment. |

| Abstract: |
Due to insufficient casual therapy of oral symptoms of dyniae and pyrosis, we applied infrared soft laser in treatment of patients with those oral symptoms. The laser had a wavelength of 904 nm and a radiation strength of 20 W. The tests were performed on 40 persons with stomatopyrosis and stomatodiniae symptoms, under application of laser through 5 days consecutively with radiation of mucosa lasting 3 minutes on 1 cm2. The testing group was represented by persons exclusively under the laser therapy and the control group was represented by 30 persons, who were under a medicamentose therapy with vasodilatator applied with iontophoresis. By persons with stomatopyrosis and stomatodiniae symptoms analgetic effect was attained through the therapy with the laser already after the first application, and the pain and aches intensity was relieved every day during the therapy, by stomatodinae to complete healing. The obtained differences in the intensity of symptoms before and after the therapy were statistically important. The thermoestesiometric determination of laser efficiency by vasodilatation showed differences which were not important, although the temperature during the therapy has slightly increased for 0.1 degrees C. The soft laser can be used as an effective remedy in the treatment of oral symptoms of stomatopyrosis and stomatodinae. |

| Abstract: |
A rare case of unilateral fusion of mesial right maxillary permanent incisor with a supernumerary tooth and a concurrent finding of supernumerary tooth on the left side is presented. The fused tooth had 16 mm in mesiodistal crown diameter, with two separate pulps and roots. After separation and removal of the distal part of the crown, the tooth remnant was treated orthodontically and made up by a composite material, with enamel etching. A satisfactory esthetic appearance was achieved by team work, in collaboration with a pedodontist and orthodontist. |
